Coach Travis Dalrymple is currently in his third year of coaching here at Westwood and is glad to be back home.  He graduated from Westwood High School in 2000 and played tennis all four years under Coach James Hood.  While playing for the Westwood tennis team, the team won District and ranked in the top ten in State every year.  He also won two District Championships in Doubles.

After high school, he chose to attend Southwest Texas State University.  While at school, he majored in Exercise and Sport Science and earned teaching certifications in Math, Sociology and P.E.  He was President of his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order and won Tennis Intramurals three times and was Collegiate Champion in Ping Pong.

After college, Coach Dalrymple began his coaching career at Stony Point High School.  He worked at Stony Point for four years and turned a zero win team into Regional Qualifiers in 2008.  He also captured two District Championships in Doubles and Mixed Doubles and sent six kids to Regionals.  All of which were firsts in school history.  Coach Dalrymple was named Capital Area Tennis Association Coach of the Year in 2007.  He currently has three former players playing Collegiate Tennis at Villanova, Southwestern University and UT-Dallas.

Throughout High School and College, Coach Dalrymple was a Teaching Pro at Great Hills Country Club.  Also, while working at Great Hills he served as Director of Sports Camps for over four years.  More recently, he has worked as a traveling Tennis Pro and has spent time teaching tennis at five star resorts in Jamaica and the Bahamas and is looking forward to teaching in Panama soon.  Also, he is currently the Director of Sports Country Camp in Dripping Springs, Texas.

Coach Dalrymple recently married his wife Lindsey, who he met in college.  She works in the IT department at a student housing company and is working on getting her teaching certification as well.  They have a dog named Tucker and enjoy traveling as much as possible.  His sister, Tracy was also a Westwood tennis player.  He is very excited about being back at Westwood and plans to be here a very long time.  He has begun rebuilding the team and plans to turn it back into to a state powerhouse.

Jonathan Douglas

Coach Douglas has been at Westwood since August 2002.  Since he started at Westwood, Coach Douglas has taught special education math and has been the assistant tennis coach under the leadership of James Hood until July of 2008 and then under Travis Dalrymple since August of 2009.  While at Westwood Coach Douglas has held the position of interim head tennis coach during the 2008-2009 season and freshman girl’s basketball coach in 2003-2004 season.  Before coming to Westwood he substitute taught for one year at McNeil High School and was a volunteer assistant tennis coach. 

Coach Douglas is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.  While attending UT he received his Bachelors in Kinesiology with a minor in business.  He was the president of the UT Kinesiology Club and UT Handball Club.  He was a member of the University of Texas Handball Team and competed in two national collegiate tournaments.   Coach Douglas attended Rockdale High School in Rockdale, TX.   While at Rockdale he was a three year letterman on the varsity tennis team.

In his spare time Coach Douglas is an avid golfer and enjoys playing tennis and racquetball.  He likes going to the movies, comedy shows, concerts and UT sporting events.  On July 11, 2009, Coach Douglas was married to Helen Fox (McNeil HS graduate) at Bethany United Methodist Church.  Helen is an ER nurse at Seton Hospital (downtown) and is currently finishing her Masters to become a family nurse practitioner.  They live in Cedar Park and have two little dogs named Murray and Sookie.
